In the late 90s, Sabesp innovated the utilities market with the creation of TACE (External Sales Service Technician – Técnico em Atendimento Comercial Externo) allowing bills to be delivered during the reading time. TACE brought many benefits, but the fact that information is obtained once a month allows reactive responses to possible irregularities and an increase in water consumption.
Searching for improvement and innovation, the Metropolitan Board of Directors established in 2018 a pilot project tracking the daily water consumption of 500 customers using low cost water networks geared towards IoT.
