The “Novo Rio Pinheiros” program of the State Government of São Paulo closed 2020 with over 120 thousand properties connected to sewerage collection and treatment networks (which is correspondent to collected sewage in a city of 360 thousand inhabitants, like Franca). It is expected that by 2022, over half a million properties will be connected through the project. The expansion of sanitation services promoted by Sabesp will benefit over 3 million people and prevent any organic waste from these properties to contaminate the river.
